Friendly Inter club rivalry is the order of the day.
On Saturday, August 8, 31 shooters from Bega, Bermagui, Bombala, Canberra, Tumut , Mallacoota, Cooma Field and Game and Cooma Gun Clubs contested the monthly. Down the Line (DT L) shoot held at Berridale. Weather conditions were excellent, with the sun shining and very little wind, making the targets easy to see, which resulted in some great scores shot.
The program consisted of 20 target double barrel continental cash divide, 50 target double barrel continental championship and 30 target double barrel.
This shoot was also the inaugural inter club challenge between Cooma Field and Game and the Cooma Gun Club, a bit of friendly rivalry was displayed on the day.
Cooma Field and Game were the victors on the day with the score of 550/600 to Cooma Gun Clubs score of 536/600. The second half of the challenge will be held Sunday the 16th August at the Field and Game range at Middlingbank, where the sort after trophy will be vied for. The idea behind the fun is for shooters to meet other shooters and to try out the different disciplines first hand.
Sunday the 16th August Cooma Field and Game hosted the second leg of the inaugural “Interclub challenge” on Sunday. The shoot was well attended with 49 shooters taking to the range. Shooters attended from Bermagui, Canberra, Bega and of course Cooma Gun Club.
Cooma Field and Game started the day with the smallest of leads over the Cooma Gun Club at 14 targets ahead from the cumulative scores of the previous weekend. Alas with the home ground advantage and a strong showing from the membership Cooma Field and Game won the day and the trophy.
The event was started to benefit both clubs and the good humoured rivalry mixed with a bit of healthy competitiveness will ensure the events future.
James Barron from Cooma Gun Club showed his ability by having the highest individual total score over the two days of 179 from a possible 200.
Mario Magrin from Bermagui won’t be in B grade for long taking out high gun on the day with 85/100
