The 33rd Easter Classic saw record numbers attend the Cooma field game Gun club over Easter. With a full 4 day program the local members were kept busy entertaining and providing a top class event for shooters from around the country.

Friday saw the 20 guage State Championship shot over 75 targets. Attendance records were smashed as well as a lot of clays with 112 shooters taking to the range. Some excellent shooting by Steve Newcombe from Safari Firearms, who happened to be the day’s sponsors take out High Gun.

Saturday was the first day of the 200 target Easter classic combined with the NSW state selection shoot again saw some excellent shooting from 140 of the best sporting clay shooters in Australia. Stephen Payne from Mudgee managed to shoot a possible 25 on one round, which helped him to take out High Gun for the day. The second day saw another possible 25 shot by Brett inch of Temora but unfortunately this was not enough to hold out Grant Sanford from Mornington, Victoria taking out High Gun for the day.

The final day greeted 95 weary shooters and range workers with the State Side x Side Championship run in conjunction with the Easter springing teal challenge. Chris Davis won High Gun with Phil Craig taking out the springing teal.

The weekend also saw the inaugural running of the State Tri Gun Championship. This event combined the scores of the three disciplines of shotgun from Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Emalene Munroe won the Handicap event with Grant Sandford taking overall High Gun.

All in all the weekend was a great success with everybody being very complimentary of the shoot and effort put in by the club membership. The targets were of an extremely high standard with the highlight of the week end being the crane, kindly supplied by Cooma Cranes, which saw 2 clay target traps suspended 30mtrs above the ground presenting a very difficult target indeed.
