32nd Cooma Easter Classic

32nd Cooma Easter Classic

The 32nd Easter classic after much preparation went off essentially without a hitch. This was not of course by accident and a huge thank you needs to go out to all that helped set up run and clean-up 4 big days of shooting.

Friday saw an overcast day with a good turnout of 80 shooters to contest the 20 Guage State Championship over 75 targets. The day was sponsored by Roses restaurant and Cooma Camping world.

Saturday and Sunday saw similar overcast and grimy weather. The shooting guardians must have been looking out for us, as shooting conditions and light remained very good. With a record turn out on Saturday of 132 shooters the Easter Classic it would seem has a bright future. Many of the guest shooters commented on the quality of the targets and congratulations go to those responsible for setting both ranges with a good mix of varied targets. Grant Sandford from Into Shooting took out high gun which seemed fitting given the great support that John and Grant put into the event.

Monday the precipitation started to creep in, but trust me if anybody was here on the Tuesday and Wednesday you would appreciate how lucky we were. Again we saw a great turnout of shooters for the side x side State championship sponsored by Safari Firearms. Unfortunately Gary Georgiou could make it this year but he too needs special mention for his support of this great event.

The raffles were a huge success. The gun supplied by Safari was won by Vassilious Lialiarusl, the case of shells to Mitch Callaghan and the Snowy Camping World gift voucher went to Stephen Cooper.

The improvements to the club house, although unfinished, were well received.

Special thanks to all of the helpers in the Kitchen. You have set yourselves a very high mark. I would not be surprised if people are coming next year, not for the good shooting, but the great tucker.

Great events like this don’t happen without help across the board from a good strong club, excellent sponsors and a little bit of luck. Thanks to everybody for making the 32nd Easter Classic live up to its excellent reputation.
