Tweed Cup Shoot Report

It was a perfect day for “tweed” at the Cooma Field and Game range on Sunday. An excellent turnout of 60 shooters enjoyed two well set ranges to make the most of the perfect mid-winter weather. The targets were varied and well set testing the best shooters with balanced scores across all grades. With bottles of Wildbrumby Schnapps supplied by the sponsors for prizes the competition was fiercly contested and yet no one managed to shoot a perfect round of 25. Bill Warriner’s experience overcame the field taking out a well-deserved High Gun and in turn taking home the Tweed Cup.

As usual with any themed event not everyone chose to wear tweed, but those who did put in a good effort. Stephen McIntyre took out best dressed with Oscar Mower runner up.

Mid winter Cup at Cooma field and Game - Shoot Report

Sunday’s Mid Winter cup saw a good turnout of shooters with competitors traveling from Goulburn, Canberra and Bermagui to take part in the event. 49 shooters enjoyed two well set ranges on a perfect winter’s day.

Being a handicap event, there were some new faces receiving the prizes at the end of the day, which hopefully will encourage all of our newer shooters on to bigger and better things. No perfect rounds were achieved but the scores on the scoreboard reflected the targets were of good quality giving all grades good opportunities to break clays.

May Shoot Mixed target challenge - Shoot Report

72 shooters attended the range again with a record turnout of new shooters. 18 “C” graders combined with 8 target only shooters, mixed with some new juniors and ladies meant that approximately half the field were newer shooters.

Richard Mould set the range and it was a baptism of fire. Even the more experienced shooters scores suffered with high gun for the day Phil Craig scrambling to a 76.

Two ranges, five stations with five targets on each. 1 single and two pairs didn’t leave much room for error. Having said that all targets were well presented and visible. Range setters take pride in deception and the targets on the day proved, by the score board at least to be very deceptive.

Another twist to the day was the mixing in of some oddly coloured targets. The theory being that if a different coloured target was presented there were some prizes up for grabs. Shooters could choose to refuse the target at which point it would be a no target, or take the challenge and go for the cash. We must be a greedy group as 50 packets of ammo were handed out for mixed targets.

Cooma Field and Game, Shoot results January 15th Perazzi Challenge.

Cooma Field and Game had an excellent turnout of shooters for the first club shoot of

2017. The event sponsored by Perazzi Australia saw 56 shooters competing for some

excellent prizes.

The two ranges were set up by some of the more experienced members of the club, with

some challenging and long targets on offer. This led to some interesting scores on the day

with some experienced shooters struggling from station to station, for the newer shooters

it was an eye opener as they were presented with targets that would be encountered at

higher levels of competition.

Experience prevailed and by the end of the day Neville Brady managed to pull off his

second perfect round at the club shooting a perfect 25 on the final round. This wasn’t

enough however to overhaul Phil Craig and Bill Warriner who battled each other all day

with Bill finally taking high gun by one target.
